About Us

Hi!  My name is Susan Scalzo Snook.

In 2013, drawn in by my zeal for challenge and passion to create,
I jumped into the age-old art of sculpture and ceramics.

I attended a class in sculpture at the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, NY.
At the very onset I was attracted by the function and beauty that clay offers.
The wonderment by which the fingers are able to mold and
make the object intended amazed me.

In 2014 I met the Bentleys of Bentley Studios in Rochester, NY.  Christin Bentley
taught me the basics of wheel throwing and the fun of slab work.

Throughout my career in various arts, whether painting a mural of Trompe L'oeil,
painting a faux finish, making a 3-D giraffe sculpture cake to excite a sweet sixteen
young lady or sculpturing busts of my grandchildren, I have found great delight and satisfaction in creating  to the enjoyment of others.

Recently, my husband and I put together a ceramic studio in our home.
This gives me the opportunity to give myself more readily to the task.

In 2016, pressing on despite all setbacks, I have now created by design a new business
called Snook Ceramics.  I am looking forward with excitement and anticipation to
creating unique and beautiful, one-of-a-kind objects of functional art for your home.

More to come!

Below are some examples of my past works of art, in paint, cakes and now ceramics.
